Following are some of our tips on how to effectively use Pigeon Loft Organizer from the start.
Each user, of course, may choose their own plan when using our software, but we do make the following recommendations.
- You must set the resolution of your screen to at least
1024 by 768. At less than this resolution, parts of some forms will be off your screen and you will have to use
the scroll bars to see all of the forms. Check your resolution by closing down any open applications, right-click on any
empty area of your desktop and, from the resulting menu, click on Properties then on the Settings tab.
Look inside the rectangle labelled, "Screen Area". At the bottom there are 2 numbers, x and y, in a statement
that reads, "x by y pixels". If x is 1024 or larger, you need do nothing. If x is smaller than 1024, move the slide
bar to the right until it becomes 1024 then click the Apply button.
- Before entering birds, work your way through File | Options
- Click the radio button for the appropiate choices in each section, and entering in some
common strains (example Janssen, Van Loon), colours (example Blue, Blue check), eye colours, loft name ( example Young birds, Old birds), hatch years (example 2006, 2005), categories ( example For sale, Donation), team name ( example Young birds Team, Old birds Team),
that you will be using when entering birds. You can add or delete values from the lists.
- Enter user data here ( File | User info ). The values entered here is relatively straight forward. The user can enter the
information such as Address, Telephone Number, Fax Number, E-mail Address, URL, etc.
- If you intend to record racing for your birds, add the Race points and the distances from your loft
before trying to define any race ( Racing | Race point ).
Next you can start entering birds. We strongly recommend that you enter in your breeders first. By doing this you are then able to go into the Pairing birds Section and enter in the pairs and then enter in the offspring.
Now you can do whatever you want. You can enter in the Race birds and their records, you can enter in past breeding seasons, or you can merely print up pedigrees and reports to your hearts content.
