1. BIRD INFO
Adding a bird is normally done from the Bird information form. As youngsters you have bred are ringed, you can transfer
them from the Breeding control form.
Entering a bird into your database:
NOTE:
If you need a choice that is not in the pick-list, do NOT try to add it here. Enter a choice you do not want then, when
the addition is complete, go to the File menu, add the option to your pick-list and come back and edit that bird
to have the required option from the pick-list.
1. Choose "Add New" from the Bird information form. The Bird information form will then open for you to do the data entry.
2. Enter the ring number.
3. Choose a colour from drop-down pick-lists.
4 Choose a sex ( click radio button ). You can simply type in the sex,(Cock, Hen or Unknown).
5. Choose a hatch year from drop-down pick-lists.
6. Choose a strain from drop-down pick-lists.
7. Choose a line from drop-down pick-lists.
8. Enter bird name.
9. Choose hatch date from calendar.
10. Choose loft name.
11. Choose sire and dam. If you are inputting a pigeon which already has a sire and dam in your database then you
may select bird from a list of all the cocks and hens in the database.
12. You have a comment box to type in comments. The comments box is limited to 270 characters in order to allow you to
get the whole comment on the printed pedigree. However, 270 characters should be sufficient to enter a lengthy description.
13. Choose the bird status. The default status is always Racing.
14. Choose the categories.
15. Add a picture of the bird. You must already have the picture on your hard disk and know where ( in which folder) it
resides. The pictures must be in one of three formats – JPG, BMP or GIF. If they are in any other format, you must use an
image editing application to save your picture in one of the above formats. The pictures must
be maximal size 490x370 pixels If picture have a large size edit it and resize.
16. Add a picture of eye. You must already have the picture on your hard disk and know where ( in which folder) it
resides. The pictures must be in one of three formats - JPG, BMP or GIF. If they are in any other format, you must use an
image editing application to save your picture in one of the above formats. The pictures must
be maximal size 300x300 pixels If picture have a large size edit it and resize.
17. Click on SAVE. It is very important to click SAVE in order for the database to be updated.
BIRD STATUS
These three bird status are RACING, STOCK, and ARCHIVE. To view the birds listed in each one of these status the user
only needs to click on the check box next to the desired status. Here is how we recommend using these three status,
however, each user can use the status in any way they choose.
RACING
Within the RACING status we recommend keeping those birds that are in your race team. It is likely that this list of
birds will be the list that is most often referred to when you are using Pigeon Loft Organizer. It deserves being
noted that all youngsters from the breeding pairs within the database will be added automatically to the RACING status.
STOCK
Within the STOCK status we recommend keeping those birds that are in your breeding team. It deserves being noted that
all youngsters from the breeding pairs within the database will be added automatically to the RACING status.
ARCHIVE
Within the ARCHIVE status we recommend keeping a list of those birds no longer maintained in your loft or are no longer
breeding. You may also want to maintain in the Archive database the parents of birds which you have purchased and the
only association that you have with these birds is that they are in the pedigree of the bird you purchased.

2. BIRDS LIST
Using the birds list, you can get lists of the birds in your Pigeon Loft Organizer by almost any combination.
To access this function you can either go to the BREEDING pick on the menu bar and go down to the BIRDS LIST pick or you
can click on the toolbar button.
To view the birds listed in each one of these categories the user only needs to click on the radio button next to the
desired category, Active birds ( include Racing and Stock birds ) and Archive birds.
Choosing any option always results in displaying a number of given pigeons in a bar above the data grid. Using All birds
button will result in displaying all, both Racing birds and Stock birds, entered in the program.
Choosing Find Ring Number button results in displaying a box, in which you can either enter a number of a sought
pigeon or select a bird from the list.
Cocks only button opens a dialog box, in which you can choose cocks according
to 4 criteria: strain , hatch year , racing or stock. If you fail to choose any of the mentioned options, all cocks
entered in the program will be selected.
Hens only button opens a dialog box, in which you can select hens according
to 4 criteria: strain, hatch year , racing or stock birds. If you fail to choose any of the mentioned options, all hens
entered in the program will be selected.
Choose strain button opens a dialog box, in which you select strain and in
addition hatch year, which you want to have displayed. If you fail to choose a specific year, the program will
display a chosen strain only.
Bird rating button displays a window, in which you can see rating features of a given bird.
Pressing the Udate bird data
button opens the Pigeon Information window, where you can correct the entered Pigeon Data.
Add new bird button opens
Pigeon Information window, in which you can enter a new pigeon's data.
Print Preview button opens a printout form with
the selected data. Selection of each of the options modifies the printout form.
Deleting a bird from the Birds List
This is done by twice click the bird that the user wishes to remove and clicking on the YES button.
Note:
Once a bird is deleted all information for that bird is deleted in breeding function of PLO.

3. PEDIGREES
There are essentially two ways to view the pedigree of a bird in your database.
1. You can click the PEDIGREES button on the toolbar and select bird ring number form the list.
2. You can access this function you can either go to the BREEDING pick on the menu bar and go down to the PEDIGREES.
Clicking the radio buttons down the left hand side of the form chooses from the five pedigrees.
Print Preview button displays a print preview of the prepared Pedigree.
As with all print outs from this version of the Pigeon Loft Organizer, you will be given the opportunity to preview
what you are going to print before printing it.
You can produce the pedigree in HTML, PDF, JPG, BMP format by clicking the SAVE button from PRINT PREVIEW window.
